Isaac Iheke, son of Chief Alexander and Lolo Gail Iheke, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kean University this May after four years as a William Livingston Scholar. Iheke majored in Political Science with a double minor in Economics and Psychology and now joins the list of this year’s Igbo graduates looking forward to a bright future as we join Ndi Igbo across the globe to celebrate this milestone achievement by our wards.
Among the graduates was Cheryl A. Ibezim who bubbled with joy as her parents, friends, and well-wishers showed support of her achievement.
The elaborate Kean University Commencement ceremony was held on May 21, 2015 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Other Igbo sons and daughters who graduated at this year’s ceremony included:

Nigerians have proven themselves to be high academic achievers, further proven when Dr. Dawood Farahi, President of Kean University, singled out Teloshe Lene Adeoye amongst other students as an example of the Kean Spirit of Participation. Adeoye started a project to raise funds to provide shelter for the homeless in the inner city of Newark, NJ. Other Nigerians who also graduated include: Abiodun Adefisayo, , Adejoke Ajayi, Babatunde Abogan Ibraheem Akintunde , Morolake Adeleye
You go out there and succeed. Success is earned, no one will hand success to you. You have to take success. The University has equipped you with all that it takes to succeed, so you go out there and sell your knowledge to the real world. Just remember that the world loves a winner but you must try as Jimmy Cliff sang “You can get it if you really want… but you must try, try and try ...you succeed at last” Igbo ekulie.
