WETATi International Women's Conference 2013

On March 29-30, hundreds of delegates from the United States, Africa and the Caribbean will descend on Linthicum, Maryland to attend the 2nd annual WETATi International Women's Conference. The conference will be held at the Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport Hilton. WETATi stands for Women Empowered To Achieve The Impossible. Igwe Ralph Ekpeh was welcomed with a red carpet event at the residence of Ozomkpu Francis Owoh preceding a convention held by Chief Owoh’s organization, the Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union (ECDU)-New York Branch.  Igwe Ekpeh has been the Eze of the Enugwu-Ukwu area for the last 9 years, bringing with his leadership a sense of peace and organization to the local community.  Though in an elevated position he remains, as described by members of his community humble, kind, and accommodating.  The Igwe appointed Ozompku Owoh to his cabinet as an advisior 3 years ago and made him an ambassador for the Enugwu-Ukwu community abroad, so naturally when the Igwe came in to rally the community at the convention with his presence, Chief Owoh threw a grand celebration at his own residence to welcome him for the first time to the greater New York area.

Nwako-Oraelosi, MD (Oduenyi Abagana) The event which took place at the Country residence (Enyi House) of Nwako-Oraelosi at Orafia Village Abagana, Anambra State Nigeria in an atmosphere of pump and peagantry featured open air Christian Church Service, traditional breaking of Kolanuts, address by the Interim President of the Club Igwe Charles Ezeudogu, introduction of PCNI branches, formal installation ceremony, entertainment/merriments and speaches.

Earlier, the Igwe of Abagana His Majesty Obi P. Mbamalu Okeke was ushered in by the Ohamadike International W#ar Dancers representatives of Nkalukwu 1 of Amankalu Igbere in Bende Local Goverment Area of Abia State. The installation ceremony garced by various branches of PCNI including the London Branch which Dr Nwako Oraelosi is a member. IRM Igwe R. N. Nwankwo, Trustee/Patron (Nkataukwu) Igwe Ogene conducted the formal handover of Staff and Certificate of Patronship to the new Patron Dr. F. N. Nwako-Oraelosi (Oduenyi Abagana)

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed seven of nine criminal charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, preferred against former President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, Azibaola Robert and his company, One-Plus Holdings.

Delivering his ruling on Thursday, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba discharged and acquitted the second defendant, Stella Onyiobebh Robert Azibaola of all the charges preferred against her while the first and third defendants, Robert and One-Plus Holding are to enter defence in counts 2 and 3 only.

Chief Polly Ubah of Supertots Education Center was appointed amongst others who undertook policy analysis and recommendations on a host of state issues and initiatives which informed New Jersey Governor Philip Murphy’s new administration’s legislative and regulatory agenda when they took office.  The transition counsel, led by Nadia Bandukda of the Muslim Lawyers Association provided legal guidance to the committees.  Together, they took a fresh look at the basic organization of government and put Governor Murphy’s administration on a solid footing to begin delivering results for the people of New Jersey.

There was a total of 14 Transition2018 committees which were comprised of numerous policy experts and outside leaders.  Each committee had a legal counsel to support their efforts. Chief Ubah served as committee member in the Education, Access, and Opportunity Committee, with Donna Chiera, American Federation of Teachers, who served as Co-Chairman.  Other Nigerians who also served in the transition committee include: Chief Charles Eke of Infotech Systems; Dr. Iwuozo Obilor, Physician; and Francis Owoh of Safety Environmental Inc. The Publisher of African Abroad USA, Alex Okiemute Kabba was recently honored at a Nigerian 57th Independent Anniversary Celebration event in New Jersey. The Mayor and Borough Council of Roselle, NJ on behalf of Lord and Niki LLC presented Mr. Kabba a certificate in recognition and appreciation for his work as an outstanding Nigerian in business as African Abroad Newspaper Publisher. The event, which was organized by Niki LLC, a New Jersey based Fashion company, had in attendance many dignitaries including Derek Armstead, the current Mayor of Linden, New Jersey and Christine Dansereau, the first female mayor of Roselle, New Jersey. The evening featured speeches, comedy by Holymallam MC/Compere from Dallas, a fashion show. The event culminated with the honorary red capping of Michael Gray, District Director for Congressman (D – NJ, 10th Dist) by which act, Mr. Gray became an adopted Nigerian “Gbenga, Son of the Soil” for his service and contribution to the Nigerian and International community.

Born around 1918 there were no birth or baptismal certificates at the time in many families when birth was recorded by oral tradition, e.g. they farmed so, so and so farmland or the moon was positioned at X point… so there was no birth record. Suffice it to say that the other yard stick for measuring age was the Age-Grade system which often falls within certain years bracket of say, 3 years or there about.  Any pinpoint at the age of Iya Dina is pure speculation. click for details
