As the 2015 general election advances, plan by Nigerian politicians to lavish finances on publicity in foreign media has hit the brick wall as the CNN is reported to be rejecting political advertisements.
It was gathered that several politicians are stupefied by the new reality that the American international cable channel, has resolved to be rejecting commercials with political messages. (Sunnews Online) |

The recent statement credited to the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Gary Enwo-Agariwey in most Nigerian newspapers published on Monday September 15, 2014, stating in clear terms that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is not interested in the participation of Ndigbo to produce the President of Nigeria in the 2015 presidential election is heart-rending and the “unkindest cut of all.”
In my 38 years active involvement in Igbo rights crusade, no Igbo leader occupying the exalted office of President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has gone this far in betraying the Igbo people. I was a very young member of the Igbo Forum as an undergraduate in 1976 when it was formed. The Forum had Dr. Akanu Ibiam as Chairman, Justice Daddy Onyeama as Vice Chairman, Chief Jerome Udoji as Secretary and Mr. Jacob Ukeje Agwu (my Uncle and Guardian) as Assistant Secretary. The people of Igbere in Abia State in particular and Nigerians in general lost big time. We are not many costodians of the conscience and Dimgba has been an outstanding writer all the way from his times at Concord through his outstanding career with the Sun News. Grocery Clark in 43 Years on the clock and counting

Mike Powel at work
Most grocery store shoppers take for granted how their products get to the store shelves, but the store clerks who stock the shelves are the ones who make that happen. Michael Powell has worked for 43 years in grocery stores and has seen a lot of changes in the business over time. He started out as a part-time store clerk at FoodTown (MayFair Super Markets) where he was promoted to the position of night crew chief and worked as such for 17 years until FoodTown was purchased by Royal Ahold and became Edwards Supermarkets. Subsequently Edwards became Stop n Shop where Powell remains as a night crew clerk going on 44 years. It is not easy for one to last over 40 years in any industry these days as businesses merge and evolve. Congratulations to Mr. Powell for his longstanding service to his community. He is married with children and appreciates the stability that his career has afforded him and his family. |

Last September, I traveled from the US to join the rest of my family for the funeral of my uncle. As such, it was not a pleasure trip but one that was planned in haste and filled with emotion. It is a time in one’s life where support from friends and a lessening of stress is the order or preference. I was glad, or so I thought, that I did not have to worry about running to the Nigerian Embassy to renew my passport. I concentrated on packing my suitcase, making sure I packed appropriately and within airline guidelines, checked that I had all appropriate travel documents and adequate funds, considered what I might take for relatives I would meet and began to consider my emotional and spiritual state, given the journey ahead (more) |

That promise is now fulfilled as the building was recently launched as part of his age grade outing highlights at Apanu Item.
